Shelly Masur Outraises All Other Candidates in Race for San Mateo County Supervisor

Fundraising Reports Show Strength and Breadth of Support for Masur’s Campaign

Redwood City, CA — According to the most recent campaign finance reports filed with the San Mateo County Elections Office, Redwood City School Board Member Shelly Masur raised nearly double all other declared candidates for Supervisor in the second half of 2011 - combined.  Masur also received contributions from significantly more individuals than any other candidate.

Masur raised $28,202 between July and the end of the year from 60 individuals, plus contributions from another 25 people under $100.  During the same period, the other two candidates, Memo Morantes and Ernie Schmidt, reported raising just $4,825 from 21 donors and $9,935 from 19 donors, respectively.

Fundraising numbers are often used as a measure of the early strength and support of a campaign.

“I am proud to have the backing of so many hardworking San Mateo County residents.  I truly appreciate their support,” said Masur.  “I look forward to working on their behalf to balance our county budget while protecting vital county services and helping to create jobs and a more vibrant local economy.”

Masur has also received the support of more local leaders than any other candidate in the race, including endorsements from California Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Fiona Ma and San Mateo County Supervisors Don Horsley and Dave Pine.
