On the Issues

I am running for Supervisor because San Mateo County needs leaders willing to solve problems by working hard and collaboratively, and thinking creatively.

In my six years on the Redwood City School Board and more than 15 years managing non-profits, I have worked to balance budgets, build collaboration and bring more open communication and solutions to problems. As a non-profit leader I have increased funding and expanded services in every organization with which I have worked. As Supervisor, I will work to make our County government more responsive, efficient and effective.  And I will work to improve our local quality of life, building on all the things that make San Mateo County a great place to live.

We need great jobs that allow people to live and work here — jobs for people of all skills and backgrounds.

That requires a public school system that provides a quality education for all of our children and youth – helping to attract and retain start-up industries.

And, in these difficult economic times where our County faces tremendous financial challenges, we must strive to balance budgets – while protecting vital County services, like law enforcement, public health, parks and programs for our seniors, children and families from harmful cuts.

Addressing the issues facing San Mateo County will require hard work and creative thinking that involves collaboration among every part of our community.  But I believe that we can work together to maintain our strong communities and make this County a better place to live, work and do business.

Please take a moment to explore my position on the issues and learn about my plans to address some of the major problems facing San Mateo County. If the answer to your question isn’t on the website, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you soon.
